What happened
The fourth halving was the first with US spot Bitcoin ETFs trading. Rewards fell from 6.25 to 3.125 bitcoin per block.
Bitcoin had already set a new record in March 2024, so the halving came after the run-up rather than before it. By December 2024 the price had passed $100,000.
The halving took place 1,440 days after the previous halving. On the first day of that month the price was $69,702. In the 18 months that followed, the highest first-of-month price was $118,649 in October 2025, +70% from where it started. Past results do not predict the future, and many things besides the halving affected the price.
