What happened
The third halving came two months after the pandemic crash. Rewards fell from 12.5 to 6.25 bitcoin per block, at a time when central banks were injecting large amounts of money into the economy.
Companies and funds began announcing Bitcoin purchases in the following months, and by the end of 2020 the price had more than doubled.
The halving took place 1,402 days after the previous halving. On the first day of that month the price was $8,865. In the 18 months that followed, the highest first-of-month price was $61,004 in November 2021, +588% from where it started. Past results do not predict the future, and many things besides the halving affected the price.
