What happened
It was the first halving with spot Bitcoin ETFs trading in the US. Bitcoin had already set a record above $73,000 a month before, so the halving arrived after the price had run up rather than before.
By December 2024, the price had passed $100,000. After this halving, about 93.75 percent of all bitcoin that will ever exist had been mined.
