What happened
The move followed the US election in November, when Bitcoin rose to new records on expectations of friendlier policy. The $100,000 mark had long been a psychological target.
Bitcoin first traded above $1,000 in November 2013, so the climb from four to six figures took about eleven years, with several crashes of 70 percent or more along the way.
Why it mattered
Six figures made the round-number headline everyone expected. The follow-up is in Bitcoin in 2025.
