# Dormant early coins — Bitcoin Years open data

Early Bitcoin addresses that have not moved for over a decade, and the block rewards that share the Patoshi mining pattern, checked every week.

## Licence

- whales.json (Sleeping giants): Bitcoin Years' own checks of public Bitcoin blockchain data (via the mempool.space and blockstream.info Esplora APIs). Released under CC BY 4.0 — https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
- patoshi.json: **licence under review.** Older verdicts in it came from a bulk check on the Blockchain.com API, whose terms (https://www.blockchain.com/legal/api-terms) restrict storing and redistributing its content. That step was removed on 2026-11-06; every reward is now re-checked on Esplora in rotation. Once all verdicts date from 2026-11-07 or later, this file becomes CC BY 4.0 automatically.
